Prussia X Reader: Family Secret (Ch. 1)

(A/N:  This story is the sequel to Let me in,  again…, so I suggest you head to the description to read it.  Thanks!)

My (f/c) (F/Car) waits in the school parking lot, waiting for Mitch.  Mitch has been distancing himself from me, lately.  So I asked Alfred for permission to leave early today and the rest of the week, so I could pick up Mitchell from school.

Ever since my marriage with Gilbert, 4 years ago, I’ve been focusing on work a lot.  Mitch and Gil have grown closer, while I became distant.  I love how Mitch and Gilbert are finally acting like father and son, but I miss the mother and son moments I used to have with him.

I got out of the car once the bell rang, dismissing the students for the day.  The front of the school began to receive the teenagers as they rushed out the school doors.  As I line on my car, I spot Mitch talking with his friends.  I could see him wave his friends good-bye, but he doesn’t make his way towards me.  He seems to not even look around to look for his ride, and just pulls out his portable game and begins to play.

There were still some students around, even after it’s been 10 minutes after school.  So I decided to drive up to Mitch, instead.  When I drive up to him, he looks up from his device, “Took you long enough, dad!” and notices it’s me instead, “Mom?”  Smiling, I motioned him to sit up front.  He walked up to the car and opened the back door, and takes his place in the back.

Mitch never sits in the back, when I used to pick him up.  So it took me of guard and sad to see him take the back seat.  “So…” I called out as we made our way out school property, “How was your day?”  I was just pulling into the street, when Mitch takes his potable system out again.

“Mitch, I asked you a question,” I called out, as we entered the busy streets.  He continues to play his game, not saying a word.  Frustrated that he’s ignoring me, I yelled out, “Mitchell!” and he yells back, “What!”

I was shocked at his tone of voice.  He sounded so angry, like he hated me, but I was angry as well.  I looked at him through the rearview mirror and gave him my death glare.  “Mitchell Gilbert (l/n) Beilschmidt…” at the process of saying his full name, I had pulled over by the curb.

“Give me your game, NOW!” I told him as I stretched out my hand to him.  He did something quickly before shutting down the game, and handed it to me.  I throw it in the glove compartment, not caring if I break it.

I pulled back into the street and began to drive off.  Silence was all you could hear in the car.  “You are so grounded, you know that, right?” I told him and I hear him say yes.  I look at him as we came closer to the house, through the mirror, “Your dad will not get you out of this one…”

Once parked in the drive way, Mitch ran out the car and made his way to the house.  “Hey Kiddo,” Gil calls out but Mitch doesn’t say anything.  I came inside the house and Gil approaches me, “What was that all about?”

“He’s mad because I picked him up and because I grounded him for yelling back at me…” I told him, anger dripping on my words, “Don’t think about letting him off the hook, either.”  Gilbert raised his hands in defeat, but he smiled as he gives me a welcome home kiss.  Dipping my head, I continued, “He seems to be distancing himself from me… It’s sad…”

I feel like I was about to cry as Gilbert took me in his arms.  “He just feels that you choose work over him… You haven’t even seen any of his games you know.”  I looked up at him confused, “he’s playing sports, since when?”

“Since a month ago… We’ve played two games already…” Mitchell announced as he made his way down the stairs, “We won by the way… as if you even care…”  He walked to the kitchen as I hear him rummaging through the fridge.  “Mitch…” I made my way to him, “I’m so sorry, Mitch!”  I reached towards him so to hug him, but he dodged me and walked out the kitchen.

“Mitchell!” I called out, tears finally falling down and staining my face.  “Mitchell…” I watched as Mitchell made his way back up stairs.  Gilbert tried to comfort me, but I just left the room.  I made my way to my office, to drown my sorrows though work.  (A/N:  Your son’s right… -n- you are working your way out of his heart… cold.)

Gil’s POV

I watched as (f/n) made her way to her office.  “I know (f/n) wouldn’t allow me in when she’s like that…” I thought.  Sighing, I made my way to Mitchell’s room.  Knocking on the door didn’t help so I called out, “Mitchell open the door… I want to talk to you…”

It was silent for a moment, but I hear the lock click, and the door swung opened.  “What is there to talk about…?” he asked me as he made his way to his desk.  Shrugging I entered the room and flopped onto his bed, as he took a seat on his desk chair.

“Why are being cold towards your mother” I asked him.  I could see Mitch lean his body forwards, “She’s the one that’s cold… all she does is work…”  I sat up, so I could look at him better, “She works so she can provide us, you with money, for the house and food.”

Mitchell stood up from the chair and made his way to the window on his right.  Like clockwork, he opens the window and catches a pebble before it made contact with the glass.  “Sorry guys!  I’m under house arrest by the ‘Big Man!’” he yelled, which received back, “What!?  Your old man stopped you from going!?”

“I’m not OLD!” I called out as I folded my arms across my chest.  “Nah…  My mom’s the ‘Big Man…’  Sorry guys, maybe next time!”  He responded back and closed the window again.  “Then why don’t you get a job… Then mom wouldn’t need to work as much…” he continued our conversation as he took his spot on his desk chair.

“Why don’t you work, dad?” Mitch asked as he gave me a confused look.  Looking away, I answered, “I have my reasons…  Anyway, just apologize to your mother; maybe she’ll let you off the hook…”  I got up and was about to walk out when Mitchell called out, “Tell me this then.  Why is it that you go with mom to her business trips?”

I turned to face him.  I could see him trying to fit the missing pieces of his parent’s life.  “It’s nothing huge… but I go so I could catch up with your uncle, Ludwig…  That’s all,” I answered him, “Apologize… please…”

Reader’s POV
(Dinner Time)

Gilbert and I were setting up the dinner table when we received a phone call.  Answering the phone, Gil wrapped his arms around my waist so he could listen in on the conversation.  Smiling, I said, “Hello?”

“Hey (f/n)!” the caller said.  “Hi Al, what’s up?” I asked; worry lingering on my tone of voice.  I know for a fact something’s up.  Alfred wouldn’t call during dinner time.  So something urgent is up.  “I forgot to tell you…  The world meeting got moved up,” Alfred told me, which Gil and I answered back, “What!?  When?”

There was a pause before Alfred continued, “Friday… not tomorrow but the next.  Germany’s having some plans afterwards so I wouldn’t know exactly why he had to change the schedule…”  Gil and I exchanged a confused glance with each other.

While still having eye contact, I said, “Okay… Thanks Al.  Well we have to go, we have dinner to serve, you know…” We gave each other our farewells and hanged up the phone.  “Who was that?” Mitchell asked as he came into the dining room.

Looking up from the phone, I answered, “That was Alfred… apparently the meeting was moved up…”  Mitch was dumb founded when he heard this.  “What!? When are you going” Where is it being held?” he asked.  I made my way to the kitchen to het the dinner as I yelled out his answer, “Germany… next Friday!”

I entered the dining room with our dinner, wurst with potato salad n the side, to find Gilbert and Mitch having a whispered conversation.  “What were you two talking about?”  Mitchell dipped his head down, trying to ovoid me, but Gil answered, “Nothing, meine liebe.”

(Dessert Time!!!)

After taking our dishes into the kitchen, I came back with a dark German chocolate, lava cake.  Gil was already digging into his as I took my set.  I smiled, but when I turned to face Mitch, my smile turned into a frown.

“What’s wrong Mitch, this is your favorite?” I asked him.  Mitchell continued to look at his plate and he finally spoke up, “Sorry…”  I was taking away for a moment, and asked him to repeat himself again, “I’m sorry, mom.”

“Oh Mitch… I’m the one that should be apologizing…’ I said, tears threatening to fall, “I’ve been a bad mom… but I promise I’ll change…”  I began to cry into my hands, as I did, Mitchell made his was to me.  I could feel him hug me, and I began to cry even more, but tears of joy.  This was the first hug I’ve received since months.
Here it is!  The first chapter for the sequel, Family Secret.  Hope you enjoyed it! <3
